IRI 2013
Sixty nine of the best of the best with nine teams from Canada all converged at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis Indiana July 19th for the Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI). In its 14th year the event has raised over $30,000 for local charities, donated close to 1000 backpacks full of school supplies to needy Indianapolis kids, and handed out $80,000 worth of scholarships. It has also seen the highest scores, most exciting matches, and unbelievable matchups you will ever see in FIRST robotics. When your team scores 251 points in a match and still loses, you know you are playing with the best. The final score of the final match was 260 to 251, where the alliance of team 1114, 2056, 1334, and 2337 beat the very capable and tenacious alliance of 1310, 67, 3476, and 862. Team 2056 has been on the winning alliance three times at IRI, in 2007, 2011 and now 2013. After nine qualification matches, Team 2056 was 7 and 2 and was ranked 2nd behind 1114 who went 9 and 0. Team 1310 from Toronto was ranked third putting the top three teams from Canada.
