The Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce has distinguished OP Robotics – Team 2056 – with its “Community Recognition Award”. At its annual awards banquet on May 22nd, 2014, OP Robotics was honoured for its investment into the community. Not only do we build great robots, but we also build great students. Involved in community food drives, clothing drives, recycling metals and electronics, as well as mentoring elementary students in Lego and VEX robotics at the Hamilton Public Library and local elementary schools. The teams goal is to give back to the community that so generously supports it. It also desires to get kids interested and excited about Science and Technology. 90% of the teams graduates over the eight years of existence have gone on to post secondary education in science, technology engineering or math (STEM).
