GTR West 2013
This weekend, March 28th-30th, Team 2056, the robotics team from Orchard Park Secondary School competed at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga against 45 teams from around the globe at the Greater Toronto West Regional. Although they had a record of 10-1-0, Team 2056 managed to seed first in the qualification rounds. They picked Team 1114, from St. Catharines, and Team 4814, a rookie team from London, ON, to make their alliance. Along with their alliance, Team 2056 shot and climbed their way to victory going undefeated in the elimination matches. With this victory, Team 2056 extends its winning streak to seventeen consecutive regional events, a world record in the FIRST community.

Along with being regional winners, Team 2056 also won Delphi’s Excellence in Engineering Award for their unique design that features a floor pickup for Frisbees and a compact but accurate shooter. This win, along with their past victories, allows the team to advance to the FIRST World Championship at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO on April 25th-27th. There they will compete against 400 of the best teams from across the world in a bid to become FIRST world champions for the first time in the team’s history.
