On March 21st-23rd, Team 2056 Orchard Park Robotics, went to the University of Waterloo to compete with their impressive machine in a regional event. Team 2056 came out of the gate shooting their way to an 11-1- 0 record at the end of the qualification round and allowed the team to seed first overall.
Team 2056 would then choose Team 1114, out of St.Catharines, and Team 4069, out of Sudbury, to make a powerful elimination alliance. The alliance powered their way to victory undefeated in the elimination rounds to capture a sixteenth consecutive regional win. Along with picking up a win, Team 2056 with their elimination alliance, set a world record for the most points ever scored in Ultimate Ascent. The team also took home the Cisco Engineering Inspiration Award because of their work in the community, which includes, McMaster Venture Camp, Lego Robotics Days, food drives, and a clothing drive. Additionally, Grant Durfey , an alumnus of Team 2056, took home an Outstanding Volunteer Award for his help in setting up the Waterloo regional event.
Team 2056 competes next on March 28th-March 30th at the Hershey Centre where they hope to continue their winning streak. It is a free event and is open to the public with over forty teams competing with their unique machines. Team 2056 will also be in St. Louis on April 25th-27th in the quest to become World Champions.
